Unbeknownst to Keri, Patrick had been planning the proposal for quite some time. He could not think of exactly how he wanted to do it, but he knew that New York would be just the place to pop the question.
The week before their trip to New York, Patrick made a nerve-wracking drive to Oshawa. Upon reaching Oshawa, he promptly got lost. Eventually, he found his bearings and made his way to Keri's parents' home. He was shaking and his knees were knocking as he asked Pat and Eric for their blessing
A week later they were off for New York. Keri unwittingly set the stage for her own proposal. She was the one who had suggested the trip to New York and she was the one who made reservations for Tavern on the Green in Central Park.
Keri and Patrick had a nice meal and a bottle of wine. Then, Patrick asked Keri to go for a walk into Central Park. After walking for about 10 minutes, Patrick stopped Keri; he got down on his knee and asked her to marry him.
Keri was surprised (or more accurately, completely floored)! She asked him "Are you serious?!" and then accepted.
